The Hot Club of Reading returns to WCR

Hot Club of Reading celebrates over a decade together with an all star line up of musicians who have contributed to the success and momentum of the band over time. The program will feature selections from the bands early repertoire through the most recent arrangements and compositions. The incredible space at  WCR allows the music to be played acoustically as it was meant to be. Featured musicians in the show will include Josh Taylor, Josiah Taylor, Chris Heslop, Kevin MacConnell, Andy Roberts, Al Rochlin, Mike Nikolidakis, and Trey LaRue.

Briefly, it’s the story of a poor woodcutter who allows a bear to marry his younger daughter, Nina, in exchange for sparing his life. She discovers that the bear is really an enchanted prince who only appears as a human being at night. When she breaks a promise to him, she must try to find him at the Castle of Faith; on her way she encounters a witch, the sun and moon, wizards and the wind. After many trials, the two are reunited.

Performed by four opera singers, and a three-piece jazz pit (piano – bass – drums)
